Unit Structure
Each General English course has 10 units, and each unit has 15 sections, making approximately 120 to 150 hours of study. In the sample class pages you can see a typical unit and try some of the exercises and activities.
In the start section you get an introduction to the theme of the unit with fun activities, games and exercises. The reading text is the basis of each unit. Read about the theme, and think and comment. Increase your vocabulary in this section. Learn everything you need to talk and write about the theme. Improve your grammar in this section with exercises, games and activities. Listen to a variety of speakers talking about the theme of the unit. In this section you test your progress in the unit. If you have any problems, your tutor will help you find a solution. Use the Virtual School to chat to other students around the world, and share your experiences and opinions. In tutorial 1 you send your written work via email to your tutor for correction. With takeaway English you learn practical language skills for different situations, including travel and socialising. Each level has a complete pronunciation course. You can record yourself doing the exercises and send them to your tutor. Do a Net search to find out more about the theme of the unit and share your news and opinions with other students. In tutorial 2 you produce a longer piece of writing and send it to your tutor for correction. In the speaking tutorial you talk to your tutor by phone or over the Net and comment on your work and the unit. The review section gives you some revision activities to consolidate what you have learnt. In the feedback section you can tell us what you thought of the unit and help us to make our courses even better.
