General English

Net Languages offers seven levels of online General English courses, ranging from Pre-Elementary to Advanced. Each course (120 -150 hours) contains stimulating material with clear explanations and constructive feedback which really helps you to learn.

You will have a personal tutor who will help and support you during the course. The combination of motivating material, tutor support and a wide variety of exercise types contribute to an enjoyable and rewarding language learning experience.

English for Work

These compact, highly effective English for Work courses consist of 20 - 25 hours of study and are centred around specific work-related areas of English communication. They are extremely useful if you need to perform in English at work in any field.

The support of your own personal tutor combined with stimulating online material is a very effective way of learning English!

English for Very Young Learners

Discover the magical world of Circus and learn your first words in English with Anna and Ravi, the two bears Betty and Bobby, Pixel the magic rabbit, and Ping the mechanical bird. Sing songs, play games, and watch videos of the amusing adventures of Bubble and Squeak. Then, print out your activity worksheets for even more English learning fun.

English for Kids

Our English courses for young learners are designed for children in the 8 to 11 age-range, who have only a basic knowledge of English (A1 of the Common European Framework). Using a variety of entertaining and stimulating activities - including stories, songs, and games - the ten units in each course target a range of themes, and focus on vocabulary extension and basic grammar practice. The English for Kids courses are ideal as a complement to school work, for self-study, or for children working together in pairs or small groups.

English for Teens

Our English courses for teenagers are designed for learners between 12 and 14 years old who have a pre-intermediate knowledge of English (A2 to B1 of the Common European Framework). Using a variety of entertaining and stimulating activities – including stories, animations, videos and games – the 10 units in each course target a range of themes and focus on vocabulary extension and grammar practice. The English for Teens courses are ideal as a complement to schoolwork, for self-study, or for students working together in pairs or small groups.

Pronunciation Practice

The Net Languages Pronunciation Practice courses are highly motivating materials designed for self-study access as well as for use by teachers with interactive whiteboards in a classroom context. The courses are available at three levels: Basic (A1 to A2 of the Common European Framework), Intermediate (B1 to B1+) and Advanced (B2 to C1). These courses contain approximately 75 interactive activities at the Basic level and over 100 exercises at the Intermediate and Advanced levels.

The courses cover a wide range of pronunciation features at the word, phrase and sentence level, focusing on sounds, stress and intonation. The material in each course includes a large number of interactive discovery and practice exercises which will help learners to practise pronunciation in an engaging and fun way. Learners are supported during the course by feedback, examples in context, explanations, highly useful visual and audio support, and exercise answers. Learners are encouraged to record themselves doing the exercises and then compare their version with the original recording. An added feature to this course is Net Languages’ pronunciation tool, which is a comprehensive introduction to the sounds of English.

FCE Examination Practice

One of the latest additions to the Net Languages range of courses - examination practice tests for people studying for the Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE).

There are five practice tests in this new range - choose a combination of one or more to help you prepare for the examination, and work through them with the help of your own personal tutor.

IELTS Exam Preparation

The NET LANGUAGES IELTS PREPARATION COURSE is an intensive and comprehensive course designed to prepare candidates for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam.

It is aimed specifically at candidates taking the IELTS Academic Module (normally taken by those intending to use English for study purposes). However, much of the material provides useful practice for the General Training Module.

English for Teachers

Netlanguages' close relationship with International House and the Teacher Training department has produced these combined General English and Teacher training courses.

The Lower Intermediate course is ideal for teachers involved in primary teaching and the Advanced course for secondary school teachers or teachers of adults. Each student is provided with an experienced tutor to provide quality support in the learning process.

English for Doctors

The Net Languages English for Doctors courses are specifically designed for doctors who deal with English-speaking patients in the surgery. The courses provide study and practice of useful language. They contain visually attractive materials, high-quality listening and video material and a wide variety of exercise types and activities to make learning and practising English a meaningful and fun experience. The courses provide learners with approximately 25 hours of study material. Written and spoken tutorials put the content of the course into practice in a useful, communicative and enjoyable way. Course participants can consult with tutors about any issues that arise concerning the use of English in their personal context.

Methodology for Teachers

Netlanguages' close relationship with International House and the Teacher Training department has produced these short courses in language teacher methodology.

This is a short introduction to current language teaching methodology. It is designed for teachers with or without experience, and offers a choice between a focus on primary teaching or on secondary/adult teaching. The ten units in each course cover such as areas as classroom management, teaching writing, doing projects, songs and games. Students are provided with their own personal tutor, to whom they send tasks regularly, and who will provide feedback and advice. By means of a dedicated noticeboard, they will also be able to exchange opinions and experiences with other students doing the course.

Grammar Practice

The Net Languages Grammar Practice courses are highly motivating and valuable self-study materials. The courses are available at three levels: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced. Each level contains over 150 interactive grammar practice activities as well as an integrated grammar reference.

These courses are designed to cover all the important areas of grammar at each level. Grammar points are presented simply and attractively via a clear index page which allows learners to easily find the grammar items they want to practise. The material in each course includes a large number of interactive discovery and practice exercises which will help learners to discover grammar rules and learn in a fun way. Learners are supported during the course by feedback, examples and explanations, as well as answers. The target language is practised in context, using authentic texts and audio material.

Writing Practice

The Net Languages Writing Practice courses are highly motivating and valuable materials designed for self-study access as well as for use by teachers with interactive whiteboards in a classroom context. The courses are available at three levels: Basic (A1 to A2 of the Common European Framework), Intermediate (B1 to B1+) and Advanced (B2 to C1). These courses contain over 65 interactive activities at the Basic and Intermediate levels and over 100 exercises at the Advanced level.

The courses cover a range of text types including emails, blogs, letters, reports, fact files, articles, and narratives, and cover a wide variety of interesting topic areas. Activities are logically organised to focus on model texts, text features, writing strategies and useful language. Each section ends with a writing task based on the model text. In addition, the Writing Practice courses contain a glossary for selected vocabulary and a grammar reference.

The courses are available in two versions: with tutor support or as stand-alone self-access courses.

Vocabulary Practice

The Net Languages Vocabulary Practice courses are highly motivating and valuable self-study materials. The courses are available at three levels: Basic (A1 to A2 of the Common European Framework), Intermediate (B1 to B1+) and Advanced (B2 to C1). Each level contains approximately 200 interactive activities.

These courses are designed to cover a range of important lexical areas at each level. Vocabulary is presented simply and attractively via a clear index page which allows learners to easily find the lexical areas they want to practise. The material in each course includes a large number of interactive discovery and practice exercises which will help learners to discover meaning and use of new vocabulary in a fun way. Learners are supported during the course by feedback, examples in context, explanations, highly useful visual and audio support, as well as exercise answers.

Listening Practice

The Net Languages Listening Practice courses are highly motivating materials designed for self-study access as well as for use by teachers with interactive whiteboards in a classroom context. The courses are available at three levels: Basic (A1 to A2 of the Common European Framework), Intermediate (B1 to B1+) and Advanced (B2 to C1). These courses contain over 120 interactive activities at the Basic level and over 200 exercises at the Intermediate and Advanced levels.

The courses cover a wide range of useful and interesting topic areas and formats, including monologues, discussions, songs and stories. Activities are logically organised with pre- and post-listening tasks, providing extensive practice of listening-comprehension skills and strategies. Listening material is in either audio or video formats, and learners are supported during the course by feedback, transcripts, and exercise answers.

General Spanish

Our General Spanish courses are available at 5 levels, from Pre-Elementary to Upper Intermediate. Students can sign up for half a level (60 - 75 hours study) or a complete level (120 - 150 hours study).
The courses are designed around stimulating topics and contain a wide variety of exercises which really help you to learn.

Spanish Grammar Practice

The Net Languages Grammar Practice courses are highly motivating and valuable self-study materials. The courses are available at two levels: Basic and Intermediate. Each level contains over 150 interactive grammar practice activities as well as an integrated grammar reference.

Spanish Verb Conjugator

The Spanish Verb Conjugator is a useful tool designed to help learners practise the conjugation of a series of Spanish verbs. These verbs provide learners with a model for regular verbs as well as different types of irregular verbs.

The choice of verbs takes into consideration the different spelling characteristics of the Spanish language as well as the use of reflexive pronouns in reflexive verbs and the word order of these pronouns.

With the Verb Conjugator learners can listen to each individual form of the verbs practised and print the answers.
